finals, a time to say goodbye . . .

. . . to homework :) (God bless christmas break :)), to your sanity :), and sometimes even classmates. i can honestly say that each time finals roll around they weed out someone who just doesn't rise to the occasion. finals, especially in college, are absolutely no joke and just to give you an idea, within my major(nursing), my freshman class was 75 strong. we lost half the first year and now the original group is down to about 25 with 15 transfer students who have joined us and stayed along the way. in college there are often minimum requirements for your major and letting yourself go, even if just for a week or two, can literally break your college career. that'd never happen to any of you right? :) just make sure it doesn't. it's not impossible to excel in college, you just have to keep in mind why you are there and what you are working for. college isn't a scary thing that's waiting to devour you, however, it needs to be taken seriously. just a little christmas reality check for everyone. :) on that note :), all the more important to take out time for yourself when you've been working so hard huh? :) hehe have a wonderful christmas everyone!!! :)

DREAM, ASPIRE, ACCOMPLISH!!!

hey all :) i am writing you on a break during my "prep for finals" weekend. :) yes, the long-awaited christmas break is so close now i can literally taste it. anyways back to the point :) . . . i wanted to put you all up to a challenge, in fact, I DARE YOU!!! i dare you, . . . to dream, to make a difference. :) i am asking you, no matter who, where, or how old you are, to commit to making a difference in the world this new year. i am not expecting you to become president or anything (however, feel free :)), i am simply proposing that you look outside yourself and demanding more of yourself. that can be anything from donating food to a shelter to walking for a cause (aidswalk, breast cancer, etc., these are all over and ALL THE TIME :)) to setting a future goal (career/schoolwise, whatever) and taking steps that will actually make it happen (for example, if your goal is nursing :), check out good schools, apply to them, talk to nurses, volunteer, etc.) to maybe even starting a community program (i.e. some collect blankets for children who are sick or poor). use your imagination, . . . each and everyone of you was put in this world to make a difference. it's easy to push aside this calling, but demand more of yourself, . . . i am DARING you to take the challenge . . .

listening, . . .

i just wanted to let you all know what a powerful tool this can be. it never ceases to amaze me how much people NEED to be listened to, how much they have to say and share with you, and how much they appreciate it when you do it for them. please, just try to be the quiet one for once, don't have something to say, let someone vent to you. you may brighten a day, change a life (yeah, it's true!), unload a heavy burden, gain valuable life experience, and you just might learn the lesson of your life. embrace the silence, . . .
