"Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work." - Thomas Edison
do you ever wonder how some people got so doggone lucky? i mean, bill gates, enough said. however, is it really luck? i think not. upon closer inspection you can see that all these famous/rich/lucky people started out small somewhere and it took a lot of work to get what they enjoy today. it's supremely easy for us to have high hopes (i.e. being famous one day, pro sports player) but then immediately declare ourselves helpless in the matter -- "it can never happen to me." that's a melancholy existence if you ask me and it absolutely does not have to be true. get inspired, get a plan, and get to work!!! :)

"The death of a friend is equivalent to the loss of a limb." - German proverb
i know, i know, . . . this one kind of came out of nowhere, but i promise there's a purpose. :) i am writing today to say thank you to two very special people in my life and in the blogging world. greg, your kind words blew me away and i can't really tell you how very much i love having you as my friend, as a source of spiritual inspiration, and as future officiant of my wedding. :) hehe jessie, you inspire me everyday more than you can imagine and i just wanted to tell you again how crucial you are and have been in my life. everyone have a good day and thank someone special in your life, they'll like hearing it and you'll like saying it. :) i love you both, . . . like two of my own limbs. :) hehe . . . may none of us lose any "limbs" anytime soon. :)

"Never lose an opportunity of seeing anything that is beautiful, for beauty is God's handwriting--a wayside sacrament. Welcome it in every fair face, in every fair sky, in every fair flower, and thank God for it as a cup of blessing." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

"Happiness is good health and a bad memory." - Ingrid Bergman
this quote exemplifies the simplicity that i am feeling today. as you walk through life, it's easy to become saturated with negativity. it's easier for people to spout about things that "suck" and to slander rather than compliment the people around them. after prolonged periods with these types of people, i personally begin to feel like i've been bathing in a vat of acid. however, a pleasant disposition can be just as infectious as a sour one. i choose to be happy. happy because i am feeling good, happy because i know i am saved and forgiven, happy because i know that i have a purpose in this world, happy because i choose to forget the things that drag me down, happy because i can forget the wrongs done me and give people a fourth and fifth chance, . . . you get the point. life's too short, . . . i hope you choose to be happy

"Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the Ark. Professionals built the Titanic." - unknown
read it again. think about it. on this, the second day of the semester i am feeling especially inspired to enrich myself and this world that we're living in. this quote apparently struck the right cord and i just wanted to share. every single one of you is capable of making a difference; each one has a gift to share in this world, . . . go out today and build an ark.
that's all i got :)

the night before, . . .
it's all set to begin again. the sleepless nights, the long hours, the busywork, . . . these are all of the things that have been missing (yet not missed :)) from my life for the past month but are sure to return tomorrow. i am sure that every single one of you can relate to the sinking feeling that this realization provokes, but it is an unavoidable means to an end. school grooms us for our future. think about it, our lives are so short on this earth and we spend roughly two decades, if not more, of it in school, . . . make that kind of commitment worth it, don't just go through the motions. that's all i got for you now, here's to a productive and enriching semester!!! :)

ahhh, . . . . nothing
that is what i am doing tonight, taking full advantage of my last week of break. it may not sound like much fun to you, but these days i look very forward to nights like these. you see, the madness that is my life at school has begun to hang over my head and i have decided to cherish my last days in the off-season. so, i'm gonna leave you with a quote to take on the new year while i am left "waiting for guffman"
