Off and Running!

Here are the assignments for your project groups:

Group 1: MA BG TJ ASh
Group 2: JC TC CM VM
Group 3: TB KD BM SW
Group 4: KB BF SH MS
Group 5: ZM LN RP MP
Group 6: JM GM ASt AW

Each of the groups has a wiki page which you can find here. The first thing that should be entered on you group pages is the individual sites you chose as design models. I will give you the wiki password in class.

Start deciding what the subject of your site will be. Sites for fictional companies or bands can be fun, but if you can find a REAL application for your website it can be very rewarding. Your group should also choose which of the sites you will use as your design model. Remember, we're using the site as inspiration, not as a site to copy element by element.

Step two is storyboarding. Use Fireworks to design your storyboard. Make sure all of your main page is visible in a 780 x 438 pixel window. This allows for space taken up by the browser elements.

If you want to work on color schemes, here is the link to Color Schemer.

This should be a challenging (and hopefully fun) project.

Coming Soon! -- Group Web Projects

Starting next week we'll begin developing websites as part of a team. This is generally how things are done in the 'real world' of web design. We will have all the tools we have used thus far this year at our disposal. I will select the teams and the subject of your projects. To get the juices flowing, you may want to look for some web designs that you really like. One place you can look is Designer's Depot. This site has tons of examples of cutting edge web design. You'll have to register, but the membership is free.

I also ran across this site that makes extensive use of Flash. It's pretty amazing. Somebody has lots of free time available!

Happy New Year!
