Is there really liquid nitrogen in ice cream?
In most ice cream, there is NOT Liquid Nitrogen. The ice cream you buy in the stor is frozen by certain techniques with ice (and a freezer)
There is, however, a way to make ice cream using Liquid Nitrogen as a cooling agent. (You can find instructions for that method in the Cool Chemistry Resorces page in this Wiki).
Can it harm us if we eat it?
Nitrogen, in and amont its self, does not harm Humans. In fact, 80% of air consists of Nitrogen. The dangerous property of Liquid Nitrogen is its temperature. Nitrogen freezes at -196 degrees Celcius. If it comes in contact with your skin, it would cause serios injury.
However, when the Nitrogen is mixed with the right amount of Milk, Sugar, and other ingrediants, it gains much of the heat it was missing, renduring it harmless. In other words, no, ice cream made with Liquid Nitrogen will NOT harm you.
